Community Education and Training Program
H.O.P.E. is supporting the community of Borgne to upgrade education and training programs,
resources and facilities to enable a brighter future over the long term. By ensuring education and training, Borgne
will continue to develop new talent, leadership, capabiliities and solutions for the community. Our goal is to
facilitate the extension of existing education and training programs and provide new resources needed to make them sustainable.
-
Teacher Training - We coordinate ongoing training seminars in modern curricula and methods for local teachers.
-
Textbook Library - Currently, many of the textbooks used in local schools are out of date or in short supply. HO.P.E. is working with the local teachers committees representing all
school in the community to build a library of up to date textbooks. This library will upgrade the quality of local education and teacher
resources.
-
Community Education & Training Programs - Leveraging H.O.P.E.'s Community Services/Technology Center
we are building numerous Health and Sanitation related training programs. These programs are delivered through the Haitian staffed center at Borgne.
We are developing outreach services to bring these same programs to the more remote habitations. Key programs include Water Treatment, Sanitation/Latrinization, Pre-Natal and
Women's Health classes.
-
Library & Resource Center - Working with the leaders at Borgne we are
building a community wide library and resource center. This facility will be locally managed and open to all local groups
as a resource in community development programs.
